Knowing, the review

I am not a big fan of Sci-Fi, maybe because I think I cannot imagine that much required for any sci-fi story. Still Nicolas Cage starer means it should be a good movie. Plus it was a good reason for me take a break from work after a long time and to meet up friends after weeks.

Well plot is simple (or not!!), Cage is single parent, living a reclusive life with his 10 yr old son in the outskirts of the city. His son is celebrating 50 yrs, and to mark the day, they dug up a time capsule, which was initially dug in by school in 1959 with drawings from student predicting the future. Caleb (Cage's son) instead of picture gets a page full of random numbers instead of a picture. That page turn out to be a prediction of all the major mishaps happened across the world including date, number of deaths and the co-ordinates. Story is further complicated, as some strange people (referred to as Whisper people) try to contact Caleb for reason unknown. Cage try to locate the girl who wrote this page 50 years ago, and land up meeting her daughter and grand-daughter. With the help of them, he search girl's place (Where she breathed last) and concludes that the world is about to end in couple of days. How thw stroy unfolds from here is to be seen at theatre!!

Well, overall movie is not that bad, but it is so cliched and so loose in some parts, leaves so many loose ends. Overall concept though unique but kind of ridiculous.
Cage's character is so type casted, single parent, uneasy relationship with his son. Estranged relationship with his father, all these sub-plots are so repititive. But its an out an out Cage's movie, he is almost every scene.

Special effects are quite good, esp in the climax, scene of the spaceship.
Overall typical hollywood formula movie. Nothing great but one time watch.
